Piwnica Staromiejska
"Piwnica Staromiejska" - was opened in 1997 in the Tricycle Mill in Zgorzelec and is located at the intersection of the 15th meridian and the Royal Road (Via Regia) - the shortest route from Paris to Moscow, the very center of Europe.
The Three-Wheeler Mill, mentioned in 1273, together with the Four-Wheeler Mill located on the other side of the Lusatian Neisse River and the Old Town Bridge connecting them, is the oldest part of the Eurocity of Zgorzelec/Gőrlitz. Repeatedly destroyed by floods and fires, and often rebuilt, it has survived to the present day in rudimentary form.
The Tricycle Mill includes 3 buildings, the oldest mentioned in 1266 (burned down in 1969) is currently under reconstruction, the second built in 1827 is the inn building with a stable in the basement (it once housed the restaurant in question) and the youngest is the Silo building built in 1937 on the ruins of the old building.
At the disposal of the restaurant's guests have always been the inner gardens in the courtyard of the Mill, the other over the Neisse River from where there is a beautiful view of the Gőrlitz skyline.
